Duluth Animal Hospital FAQs

Duluth Animal Hospital FAQs

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time client, we’re here to make veterinary care as simple and stress-free as possible. Explore our most commonly asked questions below for quick answers about our services, policies, and what to expect during your pet’s visit.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we are! We would love to meet you and your furry family members.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Our desire is and always will be to deliver the highest-quality, most compassionate care to all our clients and patients. To do this, we must ensure we can give each the time and attention they deserve. We go by appointment to ensure we can properly allot the necessary time to each patient.

How can I schedule?

For a more immediate response, please give us a call at (770) 476-3317. For non-urgent requests, current clients may submit an appointment request on the PetDesk app, email us, or use the contact form on our website. For new clients, please give us a call to set up your client account in order to schedule.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We are committed to providing patient care to pets in our area. The best option is to call us to schedule an appointment, but we understand things happen suddenly. We will do our best to see urgent walk-ins or refer you to the appropriate emergency facility. Non-urgent walk-ins will be seen if the schedule allows, or you may be asked to schedule an appointment. Walk-in care garners an Urgent Care Appointment charge higher than a standard exam fee.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

If our schedule has openings, we are happy to schedule you for a same-day appointment. If not, we can add you to a waiting list in case we are able to get you in sooner. For urgent matters, we may be able to see you on an Urgent Care basis if our schedule allows. Typically, we will have you drop your pet off so they can be seen as soon as the doctor has time between already scheduled patients. An Urgent Care Exam fee is different than a regular exam.

Are there any breeds you will not see?

Absolutely not! We are lovers of all breeds, shapes, and sizes at Duluth Animal Hospital. We believe each pet should be assessed based on their personality and needs. For anxious, aggressive, or complicated pet cases, we utilize things like anti-anxiety meds, oral sedatives, positive reinforcement, treats, muzzles, and injectable sedation to keep both your pet and the staff safe, comfortable, and as low-stress as possible.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AmEx), as well as cash and Care Credit. We do not accept checks.

Do you have payment plans?

We do not have payment plans. Payment is due at the time of service. We recommend Care Credit for interest-free payments on pet medical care: https://www.carecredit.com/

Do you offer boarding?

We do! We have full canine and feline boarding facilities available. This is especially helpful if you have a pet that needs medication, insulin injections, or additional monitoring during their stay. We have medical staff available should your pet need them. Next door, our sister facility, Duluth Dog Depot, also offers luxury boarding and camp play!

Do you offer grooming?

We partner with Duluth Dog Depot next door to offer canine and feline grooming to our clients. For traditional grooming, we would have you schedule directly with them at (770) 502-6670. For sedated grooming, please give us a call so we can help coordinate your pet’s appointment with our medical staff.

What is AAHA and why does it matter?

AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association, and only 15% of animal hospitals are accredited in the US and Canada. Unlike in human hospitals, accreditation of veterinary hospitals is not mandatory. This means that every 3 years, we voluntarily undergo a rigorous accreditation process on over 900 standards of excellence in veterinary medicine. This ensures we continually strive for the highest standard of care in everything we do. Duluth Animal Hospital has been accredited since 1987.
